Partners: lifting the bar with teaching jobs in Vietnam

First and foremost, the Australia-Vietnam Skills & Education group (AVSE-TESOL) delivers quality training and facilitates internationally recognised TESOL TEFL certification that provides a pathway to teaching jobs in Vietnam and in other countries. Our TESOL TEFL course in Ho Chi Minh City wouldn’t be possible without: 1. permission from Vietnamese authorities; and 2. the support of Australian and local partners.

strategic planAVSE-TESOL is fully registered by the Ministry of Planning and Investment in Vietnam. We work in partnership with the following institutions that share our commitment to lifting the bar with ESL teaching jobs in Vietnam:

1. Australian International College of Language (AICOL) – Queensland, Australia;
2. Centre for Educational Development: Vietnam Psycho-Pedagogical Association (VPPA) – Hanoi, Vietnam;
3. Australia-Vietnam School of English – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Here is a brief profile of our strategic partners.

AICOL is a 100% Australian owned Registered Training Organisation (RTO: 32060) and a listed institute on the Commonwealth (Australian) Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS: 01272A). AICOL is one of the top tier learning institutes world-wide that has earnt endorsement from NEAS (National ELT Accreditation Scheme), based in Australia. NEAS is globally recognised as a body that provides quality assurance monitoring and accreditation of ELT providers. Importantly, AICOL has permission from the relevant Australian Government authority to offer the Certificate IV in TESOL training package offshore – specifically, in Vietnam.

Based in Hanoi, the VPPA is an advisory authority sanctioned by way of decrees and decisions of the Vietnamese Government to facilitate the delivery of short-term training programmes sourced from abroad. Without written consent and oversight from the VPPA, or a similar authority representing the interests of vocational education and training in Vietnam, offering our Australian Government accredited TESOL TEFL programme in Ho Chi Minh City would not be possible. AVSE-TESOL is very grateful for the guidance and support it receives from the VPPA and in turn from the Vietnamese Government.

The Australia-Vietnam School of English (AVSE) in Ho Chi Minh City was established in 2009 by Peter Goudge (Australian) and Tran Thuy My Linh (Vietnamese). With approaching 500 general English and exam preparation students, AVSE has evolved into one the premier English Language Centres in Ho Chi Minh City. When it comes to teaching jobs in Vietnam, AVSE is an employer of choice for quality ESL teachers from all corners of the world.

Permission from Vietnamese authorities

Obtaining permission from Vietnamese authorities to deliver an Australian Government accredited TESOL programme directed at training people to fill teaching jobs in Vietnam is necessarily an intricate process. AVSE-TESOL is one of only a handful of TESOL TEFL providers operating in Vietnam that has permission to deliver this kind of short-term training. The application process that our company went through with local authorities included, among other things, independent evaluation of the following classifications:

  • Suitability of the training methodology for ESL teaching jobs in Vietnam;
  • Academic qualifications held by the key personnel;
  • ESL teaching jobs in Vietnam – demonstrable commitment to improving standards;
  • Company’s financial and legal status.

Fully accountable

AVSE-TESOL operates within the parameters set forth by our strategic partners including the Vietnamese and Australian Governments. At all times we go about our work in a manner that is consistent with Vietnamese law – encompassing laws, regulations and policy decisions specifically related to ESL teaching jobs in Vietnam. Moreover, we are aware of the need to comply with Australian law and Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) standards, as they relate to the delivery of registered courses under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

The Ministry of Planning and Investment in Vietnam periodically visits a registered service for the purpose of conducting a spot-audit. In addition, the Australian Government conducts programmed and spot audits of institutions that have permission to deliver AQF study programs. Even though our TESOL course is delivered in Vietnam and our key focus is on teaching jobs in Vietnam, Australian standards are applicable – and thoroughly checked. These audit processes in Vietnam and Australia are welcomed by the owners of our company. They help ensure that teaching jobs in Vietnam are an attractive proposition for the right people.
